Spiritualism like most other religions or belief systems talks of how we are all one. We talk of how we are all one spirit, one great consciousness, all one in the eyes of the lord. But our current lifestyles very rarely reflect this. If you consider how we live today you will see that we are becoming increasingly more isolated and instead of socialising as we used to our social life now revolves round the television and the internet.
Fear of crime, the increasing costs of going out, the prevalence of cheap alcohol from retail outlets, the lack of public transport for those who want to drink in pubs and clubs, even the ban on smoking in public places has led to many people drinking in doors. Many people no longer even know who their neighbours are. Correspondingly our knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live is also becoming more and more truncated. Because we are no longer encouraged to meet and socialise our views of the world come mainly from our televisions. This means that our views of the world are shaped by those who own the means of communication.
Spiritual philosophy teaches us that we are essentially a spirit that takes a physical body to enable us to undertake a range of emotions and experiences. These experiences are chosen by our spirit to help us evolve spiritually. If we do not take part in life then not only will out physical lives stagnate but so will our spiritual evolution.
